When You are This close

One of my main attributes is my ability to deal with stress, in a business or financial situation, a rarely get bothered, unless you want me to do the Maths [Math in America], so it is fair to say that I’m pretty stressed at the moment, we are shooting Barrie’s film next week, and although the plan was for me to just direct it, with a week to go I find myself rushing around producing it, meeting here, meeting there.  This would not be such an issue if I was not tied down with a Monday Deadline to get the first 5 pages of script into a would be Executive producer.  Now don’t let me make out that this is me saying I’m the only one doing anything about this, that would be unfair and untrue, Barrie has done a lot for his own film, and Sim and Si a wonderouse amount on the script, which is really starting to take shape.

So what are you saying

It’s just I’m so close to doing what I want to do at the moment, I want it to happen now. Not next week, not next month.  NOW god damn it.  And the stress is unbearable - almost.

 The BBC

Work Hard

Yesterday we spent 6 hours or so in the conference room of Copa in Oxford, sat down at a big desk working on ‘No Balls’.  It’s an amasing thing to see a film idea take shape so quickly and so powerfully.  It’s a little bit better then I was expecting and a lot more fun.  It helps having a new member of the team because we are all out to impress one and other, and none of us want to let each other down.  These are very, very exciting times.

Chop Lead

Well, we are back at the top of the leader board with our short film ‘Chop‘, and I’m properly surprised at how bothered I am on how it is doing.  Have  a look if you dare.

Find Myself Relating my World to that of my Football Team

I do, and Often in life I’ve found that I do better when Southampton FC are doing better. This week we both signed a new striker. SFC signed David Connolly, a 32 year old Premiership striker, who has been out of the footballing world through injury for the last 18 months. It could be a very shrewd bit of business as long as he is not broken. ChalkStar films are in with a good shout of making our first feature and have been fortunate enough to have Simeon Courtie join the writing team for “No Balls”. If the relationship works out perhaps a few more teams as well. Both “Players” ooze quality. Already Sim has had a positive effect, his quality of work and work ethic are second to none, the knock on effect though is tremendous. It is a sign to those in and around ChalkStar that not only do we mean business; we can now attract big talent who see opportunities in our ideas both with what we have done and what we are doing.

The Similarities Don’t End There Either

Oh no, The folks in ChalkStar are also motivated more now. Si only feels he can improve his game by working with Sim, he can learn from him and is motivated by having somebody that he can work with that is the same sort of quality as himself. It’s fair to say many teams are held back by those around them, its all well and good having a ‘Matt LeTiz‘ but where is your motivation to play better or to your best without other quality or better players? It’s a bit like having competition for places, though the only place at risk on the table is mine. If though, that means a better end product, I’m happy to sit on the bench and work at my game.  The rest of the team can see real movement on the pitch and in the back room, which is a positive sign of things to come.
